Winter Wellness Hacks: Boost your Health this Season

Jan 30, 2025 | Healthy Habits, Hot Topics, Self-Care

The days are short, and the cold weather has set in. It’s easier this time of year to let our health take a backseat. Motivation may wane, but there are things you can do to stay on top of your health. Here are my top winter wellness hacks to help you stay healthy, energized, and ready to embrace the season. From nipping food cravings to immune-boosting tips, I’ve got you covered

Slow down your meals and eat ‘chewier’ foods
Yes, you read that right. Studies show that slowing down at meals and chewing your food (15-40 times, to be precise) will naturally increase your body’s GLP-1 levels (that’s without Ozempic and the like). Instead of counting the number of times you chew, choose foods that force the habit. Shredded cabbage, raw carrots, and hard-crusted sourdough bread are a few examples.

Stay Hydrated
Just because you aren’t actively sweating (that you notice) doesn’t mean you aren’t losing water. Aim to hydrate to counter the dry winter air. Sip on herbal teas or warm beverages to keep your fluid levels up and your body balanced.

Prioritize Restorative Sleep
Shorter days are a reminder to sync with your natural rhythms. Aim for 7+ hours of quality sleep to support your immune system and energy levels.

Keep Moving
Stay active to lift your mood and energy. Try indoor workouts and winter sports, or bundle up for outdoor walks to keep your body in motion. Don’t let the winter blues keep you down! These tips will help you stay energized and ready to embrace the season. Need more personalized advice based on your DNA?
