Being healthy is about prioritizing your well-being, both mentally and physically. Both go hand-in-hand for success in living a healthy and balanced life. Have you thought about brushing your teeth since you brushed them this morning? Didn’t think so. Why? Because brushing your teeth is habitual as part of your routine and healthy habits. That’s the priority you need to place on mindset and tasks for health.
A positive mindset for consistency will rise above waning motivation to give you the drive to stick with your movement goals, meal planning, and other healthy habits.
How can you build a healthy(er) mindset?
1. Acceptance
Accepting yourself and where you are is one of the hardest things to accomplish, but it’s easily one of the most rewarding. This process takes time and honesty. What makes you unique?
2. Focus On What You CAN Control
You can’t control the actions of others, but you can control how you react. Accepting the things we can not control, such as diagnoses, allows us to move on from the negative feelings that come with it.
3. Make Healthy Food Choices
Have you ever “watched what you ate” and immediately felt better?
Make it a priority in your life to drink more water, lower your caffeine intake, or eat more healthy greens. Take it slowly. Easing into healthy food changes is best done slowly and steadily for better success in the long run.
4. Find Balance
You can still be ambitious in planning for health but know when to take a moment to pause, regroup, or reevaluate.
5. Learn As You Go
We all make mistakes, but we don’t always pause to learn from them. What can you learn from the mistakes you’ve made this past year?
